The Program at a Glance
Who: Two Universities,one Research Center and one Medical Center  
Where: Heraklion and Chania,Crete  
When: Applications started! -lasting until July 10 (priority criteria apply), lectures start on September 2020  
How: A distance learning program (afternoon hours) plus an 15-day Intensive Lab training requiring physical presence  
Duration/Credits: 15 Months (90 ECTS) or 24 Months (120 ECTS)  

Following the rapid evolution of Engineering in all its fields, Biomedical Engineering changed first and then became the catalyst for the changes that are being made in modern medicine today. Biomedical Engineering goes from the macroscopic to the micro and nano level. Biomedical Engineering as a highly interdisciplinary field it is currently leading the creation of the technological prerequisites for enabling the establishment of the modern precision or personalized medicine concepts.Our program seeks to capture these global megatrends by offering high level education in three major sectors:

  1. Biofabrication, Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy Module
  2. Βιο-Medical Imaging
  3. Medical Information Systems

Our program is flexible in the sense that it offers two graduation tracks, one with 90 credits and one with 120 credits. The first track is intended to educate graduate students willing to develop a carrier as biomedical engineers employed by industry/hospitals. The second track is designed to prepare graduate students willing to continue in a PhD program, through a research grade thesis conducted in one of the affiliated research labs.In both tracks, the offered scientific education is complemented with lectures and projects in selected (hot) topics related to the management of biomedical technology, such as:

  • Regulatory Systems
  • Patent Drafting and IPR Management
  • Design and Execution of Clinical Trials
  • Ethics in Science and Medicine
